Columbia, MD - May 2009 Cytomegalovirus (CMV) AD169, Purified Whole Virus Cat. No. 10-275-500 was inactivated by treatment with Beta-propiolactone (B-PL). B-PL is a DNA alkylating agent that has been shown to be effective in the inactivation of a virus. It chemically modifies viral DNA without affecting the immunogenicity or protein structure. After treatment with B-PL, infectious CMV was completely inactivated as validated by cell culture based assay, but retained viral morphology (by TEM).
