Scientist, Virology/Microbiology

Description: 
  • Perform microscopic examination (light and fluorescence) of uninfected and infected cell cultures used for large-scale cell and/or virus production
  • Assist in troubleshooting virus production processes, experiments and quality control assays as appropriate
  • Perform in-vitro infectivity assay (TCID50, plaque assay), viral clearance, titration, purification and hemagglutination assays
  • Lead and/or assist on projects requiring knowledge and prior experience in cell culture and/or virology
The ideal candidate will have the ability to multitask and adapt quickly to new or different ideas.  Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work in a team environment is a must.
Specific Requirements: 
  • B.S. in Virology, Microbiology, Biology or related field plus 5+ years practical laboratory experience in cell culture and virology in a commercial setting
- or -
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Virology, Microbiology, Biology or related field plus 3+ years practical laboratory experience in cell culture and virology in a commercial setting
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of HIV and Herpes Viruses
  • Knowledge of Influenza
