Human Herpesvirus 7, strain H7-4 (HHV-7). Family: Herpesviridae, subfamily: Betaherpesvirinae, genus: Roseolovirus. Enveloped, double stranded DNA virus. DNA isolated from HHV-7H7-4 infected cells supplied at a concentration of 50 ng/µL cellular DNA in a volume of 100 µL. This DNA is not suitable for quantitation.

Suspending Buffer:  10 mM Tris, 1 mM EDTA, pH 8.0

Cell Line for Propagation:  SupT-1

PCR Analysis of DNA Control:  PCR analysis was performed on infected cell DNA using the PE Biosystems GeneAmp® Gold PCR Reagent Kit and primers specific to the major capsid protein gene of HHV-7. The reaction produced a 336 bp fragment. The PCR product was visualized on a 1.0% agarose gel using EtBr staining.

Extract Preparation/DNA Quantitation:  SDS, proteinase K digestion followed by phenol/chloroform extraction and ethanol precipitation. DNA concentration was determined by fluorometry using PicoGreen®.

This product is shipped frozen on dry ice. Store at -20°C upon receipt. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles as product degradation may result.
*Note: Upon thawing, centrifuge the vial for a few seconds to remove residual droplets from the lid.

This DNA extraction procedure has been shown to eliminate the infectivity of most viruses and bacteria; therefore, this product is not considered biohazardous.
