Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2, strain G (HSV-2, Human Herpesvirus 2, HHV-2). Family: Herpesviridae, subfamily: Alphaherpesvirinae, genus: Simplexvirus. Enveloped DNA virus. Found in 17% of US population. Of this population, 10%-20% have recognized cases of genital herpes.1
Purified virus made from clarified, virus infected tissue culture harvest fluids that are concentrated and cleaned of debris by a combination of ultracentrifugation, ultrafiltration and selection of viral band from a gradient. This preparation contains live virus.
