Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2, strain G (HSV-2, Human Herpesvirus 2, HHV-2). Family: Herpesviridae, subfamily: Alphaherpesvirinae, genus: Simplexvirus. Enveloped DNA virus. Found in 17% of US population. Of this population, 10%-20% have recognized cases of genital herpes.1

Purified virus made from clarified, virus infected tissue culture harvest fluids that are concentrated and cleaned of debris by a combination of ultracentrifugation, ultrafiltration and selection of viral band from a gradient. This preparation contains live virus.

Protein Concentration: [varies by lot] mg/mL by Pierce BCA protein method using BSA standard. Alternative methods for determining protein concentration may give different values. 

Sterility: Bacteria, yeast, fungi and Mycoplasma were not detected by our assay methods.

TCID50 Titer: [varies by lot] TCID50/mL. HSV-2 is titered in Vero cells over a 8-day period with endpoint determination by cytopathic effects (CPE).
