HIV-2 NIH-Z Strain Purified Viral Lysate
Human Immunodeficiency Virus 2, strain NIH-Z (HIV-2). Family: Retroviridae, genus: Lentivirus. Single-stranded, positive-sense enveloped RNA virus.
HIV-2, strain NIH-Z purified virus lysed with Triton X-100. Virus is completely inactivated and contains all viral proteins present in active preparation. Can be used for applications such as ELISA or Western blot requiring non-infectious viral proteins.
Virus: HIV-2, strain NIH-Z
Virus Preparation: Purified virus
Cell Line for Propagation: HuT 78
Suspending Buffer: 10 mM Tris, 150 mM NaCl, 1 mM EDTA, pH 7.5
Preparation of Lysate: HIV-2NIH-Z purified virus adjusted to a protein concentration of approximately 1.0 mg/mL and Triton X-100 added to a final concentration of 1% in TNE buffer.
Protein Concentration: [varies by lot] mg/mL by Pierce BCA protein method using BSA standard. Alternative methods for determining protein concentration may give different values.
Virus Particle Count: Varies by lot
Functional Activity: Reactive in Western blot and ELISA.
Final Fill Volume: Varies by lot
Validation of Inactivation: These lots of viral lysate has been specifically tested for residual infectivity and no infectious virus was detected. The lysate was titered using a 29-day TCID50 assay in Hut 78 cells with endpoint determination by HIV p24 core antigen assay. This product has been treated using methods of inactivation that have been validated in vitro for complete inactivation of high-titered retroviruses.
*Note: Upon thawing, centrifuge the vial for a few seconds to remove residual droplets from the lid.
