KSHV/HHV-8 Rabbit antibody vIL-6 Polyclonal
Product Description: Rabbit anti-peptide antibody to viral interleukin-6 (vIL-6) of HHV-8. HHV-8 ORF-K 2 encodes vIL-6, and IL-6-like protein of 204 aa (23.4 kDa). vIL-6 is a lytic protein of HHV-8, and ~25-30% of cells express this viral cytokine in TPA-induced PEL cell lines. This antibody originates from rabbit serum and is purified by protein G chromatography.
Protein Concentration: Determined by BCA Assay using Bovine Gamma Globulin (BGG) as the standard. Alternative methods for determining protein concentration may give different results.
Presentation: Affinity purified IgG supplied in Dulbecco’s PBS with 0.01% Thimerosal.
Immunogen: HHV-8 vIL-6 peptide sequence (N - C), PDVTPDVHDK
Purity: >95% pure as estimated by analysis of Coomassie blue stained SDS-PAGE gel.
IFA Titer: [varies by lot] (TPA/Butyrate induces KS-1 cells)
Final Fill Volume: [varies by lot]
Functional Activity: Reactive in IFA (cytoplasmic fluorescence) and in Western blot2. Reactive in immunohistochemistry (IHC) to detect expression of vIL-6 in primary effusion lymphomas, multicentric Castleman’s disease, HIV-associated lymphadenopathy, and HHV-8 lytic infection in Kaposi’s sarcoma-derived tissue cells. This antibody does not cross-react with human interleukin-6 (huIL-6) and is not reactive with EBV-infected P3HR1 cells or HHV-8 negative BJAB cells.
